A leadership-appointed, time-limited body — not a committee — created by Speaker Mike Johnson and Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries in February 2024 and co-chaired by Jay Obernolte (R-CA) and Ted Lieu (D-CA). It produced a comprehensive final report in December 2024 that remains the House's closest thing to a shared AI framework, organized by sector rather than by committee.

NOT VERIFIED AS RECONSTITUTED IN THE 119th CONGRESS — no official announcement of a re-established task force was found as of 22 Sep 2026, and the 16 Sep 2026 bipartisan letter from Beyer, Obernolte, Lieu and seven others urging House leaders to act on AI is itself evidence that members are pressing leadership for renewed structured action. The live successor vehicle is the bipartisan 'Great American AI Act' discussion draft released 4 Jun 2026 by Trahan, Obernolte and Houchin.
