Performers must control their own voice and likeness: informed consent and compensation for digital replicas in contracts, and a federal right for all Americans to control their likeness and voice via the NO FAKES Act.

What they do

Negotiates AI terms into film, TV, commercial, audiobook and video game contracts; lobbies Congress and state legislatures (it backed California's law requiring disclosure of AI-generated performances in advertising); enforces contract terms for members.

Worth knowing

Its ask is control and consent over likeness, not limits on AI capability. The NO FAKES Act is contested by some digital rights groups (including EFF) as a broad new IP right that could restrict speech — you are picking a side in that argument by signing.
