What it does
Intensive 4–5 week in-person bootcamp training people in the engineering skills for technical AI safety work — transformer internals, interpretability, RL, evals. Runs 2–3 cohorts a year (ARENA 9.0 scheduled 5 Oct – 6 Nov 2026). Covers travel, visas, accommodation and meals to remove financial barriers. Curriculum is public and self-studiable.
Honest assessment
One of the most concretely open doors in the entire ecosystem for a technically-inclined individual with no credentials or connections — funded, structured, and explicitly designed to remove barriers. Competitive, but the curriculum is free online regardless.
Concerns it covers
Talent-pipeline intervention for technical alignment broadly — it is upstream of any particular threat model, though its curriculum is oriented toward interpretability, evaluations and alignment rather than near-term harms.
