What it does
Designated in 2026 as the Netherlands' coordinating market-surveillance authority for the EU AI Act, working alongside the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens. As an AI Act market-surveillance authority it will hold investigative powers, the ability to require documentation and model access, and to order corrective measures and withdrawal of non-compliant systems, with penalty powers flowing from the national implementing law.

Honest assessment
Under EU AI Act Article 85, any person may lodge a complaint with a market-surveillance authority — no nationality or residency requirement. That right applies here and is the operative mechanism for foreigners in any EU state. But the Dutch designation was only settled during 2026 and I could verify no working AI complaint route at RDI. Treat the legal right as real and the administrative channel as unconfirmed.
